Purpose of the Position:
In addition to all the responsibilities of a peer educator, this position involves coordinating peer educators to provide comprehensive mobile and fixed site wellness services, primarily to people who inject drugs (PWID). This includes organizing peer educator work schedules, monitoring their performance, and ensuring consistent reporting.
Minimum Requirements:
– Minimum of Grade 10 (Standard 8)
– Computer literacy
– Experience in reporting and statistics
Duties and Responsibilities:
– Ensure that outreach to all areas and locations is conducted as scheduled by the requisite complement of peer educators
– Train, mentor, and support the district team, and participate in the development of training tools- Ensure peer educators adhere to association policies, procedures, and standards, including the completion and submission of necessary documents correctly and on time
– Provide quality pharmacy support, especially to the District Differentiated Care
– Develop and implement a district pharmacy support operational plan in cooperation with all stakeholders and grant partners
– Ensure accurate and timely reporting by peer educators on clients seen and interventions conducted at the DIC and on outreach- Supervise Pharmacist’s Assistants to ensure continuous availability of medicine to patients through proper stock management, ordering, and receipt methods
– Conduct outreach activities with the mobile unit
– Collect and consult information for program development and improvement
– Identify PWID areas and locations for mobilization
– Educate PWIDs on risk reduction, prevention interventions, and human rights
– Conduct outreach to distribute sterile injecting equipment and other harm reduction materials, including condoms and lube
– Safely collect used injecting equipment from sharps bins, outreach areas, and the community
– Collaborate with community role-players to provide friendly health services
– Maintain relationships with health services managers and other gatekeepers/stakeholders
– Monitor and document Human Rights violations observed or reported by PWIDs
– Assist in managing client crises if needed
– Monitor and evaluate the impact of outreach activities and compile reports
– Occasionally act as a driver for the project
– Engage with the PWID community, including attendance and participation in community advisory group (CAG) meetings
– Participate and assist in organizing PWID/PWUD support meetings, community advisory group meetings, and structures as directed by PNC and project coordinator
