LANDFILL SITE PLANT OPERATOR – TASK GRADE 07
Salary Scale: R 238 006.00 – R261 692.00 per annum
Requirements of the Position:
Requirements:
– Grade 10/Std 8
– Valid Code C1 driving license with PrDP
– Certification of competency in operating at least two heavy plant machines (Dump truck and Excavator)
– Demonstrated competency in other heavy-duty machinery (e.g., Dozer, TLB Front End Loader, and Compactors)
– Mechanical experience will be an added advantage
NB: The prospective candidate must be able to operate at least two heavy plant machines.
Key Performance Areas:
– Establish details of tasks, including vehicle, materials, and personnel.
– Inspect safety devices, controls, and lubricant levels on vehicles/heavy plant, and report defects to the supervisor.
– Wash and clean heavy plant, remove debris using a pressurized hose and specific cleaning materials, and attend to the basic removal/replacement of defective parts.
– Communicate with the immediate supervisor and relevant personnel on-site to confirm requirements and specifications.
– Control the utilization of suitable backfilling materials and discharge/offload required quantities for repair or reconstruction work.
– Clean ablution facilities, mop floors, wipe ceramic surfaces, replace toilet rolls and towels, and report defective items to the immediate superior.
– Attend to the surroundings by picking up litter, sweeping paved areas/walkways, washing windows, and polishing brass items.
– Physically move furniture, equipment, and files to identified locations as directed by the supervisor.
GENERAL ASSISTANT :POUND & CEMETERY – TASK GRADE 03
Salary Scale: R127 962.00-R143 556.00- per annum
Essential Requirements of the post:
Requirements:
– Grade 10/STD 08
– Basic literacy (ability to read and write)
– Minimum of 3 months of work experience
Key Performance Areas:
– Receive verbal instructions from the immediate superior regarding the work program and priorities related to specific departments, and communicate specific cleaning material requirements.
– Clean designated areas, including mopping floors and wiping ceramic surfaces, office furniture, and equipment at the pound and cemeteries.
– Assist in digging gravesites to predetermined specifications using measuring devices (ruler/tape measure) and marking with pegs and string.
– Ensure gravesites are safe during pre-burial activities by ensuring sand heaps are piled safely.
– Refill gravesites once funeral formalities have been completed.
– Remove waste (old flowers, etc.) for appropriate disposal.
– Clean and maintain the cemetery by removing overgrown grass and litter.

Salary Scale: R127 962.00 – R143 556.00 per annum
Preferred Requirements:
– Std 8/Grade 10
– Previous experience in similar work
– Ability to read and write
Key Performance Areas:
– Follow verbal instructions from the immediate supervisor on work programs and priorities, and communicate specific cleaning material requirements.
– Start the cleaning sequence by mixing and using chemical detergents to remove stains/dirt from painted, polished, or carpeted surfaces.
– Vacuum and sweep floor areas, wash tablecloths, dust and tidy work areas, tools, shelves, cupboards, walls, and dusting.
