FREE EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT COURSES
Welcome to PLAY and the Powerful Learning Around You!
We are training 150,000 Early Childhood Development (ECD) practitioners, Grade R, and Foundation Phase educators across South Africa in play-based learning.
You can complete the training at your own pace and at times that are convenient for you. The course only requires 2 dedicated hours per week from you.
How the Programme Works:
The course starts immediately after you register on this site. You will also have the opportunity to book a support workshop if you experience any difficulties.
All the training takes place right here on this platform. You will be guided through a series of sessions for each of the course options. The courses are designed for practitioners, teachers, childminders, day mothers, playgroup facilitators, or anyone who implements programmes for babies and young children in South Africa.
The course sessions include videos, images, reading materials, tasks, evaluation, and reflection activities.
After every completed session, you will receive an email with more PLAY ideas and helpful resources.
You will receive a certificate after completing the training course, along with the earned credits.
Children of all ages love to play. Our PLAY courses will show you how to turn this natural behavior into a powerful teaching tool. From crawling to basic mathematics, PLAY helps children learn in a fun, exciting environment.
Available PLAY Courses:
Based on age groups, each PLAY course is specifically designed to cater to every stage of a child’s development. Our courses are packed with both theory and practical instruction every step of the way.
Grade 1 – 3: Play-based learning shouldn’t stop once children enter the school classroom. All sessions in this course include a breakdown of the CAPS they’re linked to.
Grade R: This course will help you lay the foundations for skills children will use throughout the rest of their schooling career.
2 – 5 years: This course is full of simple but practical lessons to lay the children’s foundations for language, communication, and math.
Birth – 2 years: Babies and toddlers are never too young to play. Through this course, you will learn how to help babies and toddlers reach their developmental milestones.

About Early Childhood Development Accreditation Certificates:
Boost your career by earning a PLAY certificate endorsed by the Department of Basic Education, UNICEF, Cotlands, and the Lego Foundation.
Each completed course qualifies you for 15 CPD credits as set out by the South African Council for Educators.
